Cel Art - Studio Ghibli
As the original celluloid used to create the films were no longer available, the Studio Ghibli decided to choose an image from the film to create a limited edition - Cel Art - by choosing to reproduce the colours using the silkscreen process. The Studio's artists transcribed the chosen image into a collectible celluloid with the utmost care. The creation of the image was directly supervised by the film's director, Hayao Miyazaki.
This limited edition was created in 1999 and printed in 250 silk-screened copies and 10 off-the-shelf copies. Each copy was marked with Studio Ghibli's seal and the plates used to create them were destroyed. The reproduction techniques and prints were approved by the Studio's artistic directors.
These art celluloids have been carefully framed with matte black brushed aluminium rod and anti-reflective UV glass.
